Recomended Video & Audio players, converters etc.

Total Video Converter

I recently had a customer that wanted to play AVI files on their DVD player, they'd tried copying them to DVD but they wouldn't play. Thier DVD player happens to support DivX so we decided to look at a few applications for converting AVI files into DivX format.

After trying out a few free applications, none of which we were totally impressed with, we decided to take a look at some commercial products and came across Total Video Coverter from OJOSoft. You can download a free trial using the link below although it is limited to converting the first 20% of any video but this is more than enough to test out the application before purchasing it.

Before trying out the software it's also worth downloading a freeware application called AVIcodec. This application allows you to check what video codec an AVI file is using before you convert it using Total Video Converter.

I haven't gone into any detail testing this software but it does exactly what it says it will with just a few clicks although you can customise the output settings to change the video size etc.
